Silo plugins
Three small plugins for Silo (opens in a new tab), Nevercenter's polygon modeler, written in C++ in spring 2005. Two of them come with source code.
Plugin 1 · April 2005
SimpleHUD
My very first Silo plugin. It draws pages of text over the viewport, configured in an INI file with fixed text and live values. Up to 5 pages of 28 rows, with position, font and colour settings.
Live tags you can put in any row:
[SECTION1]
ROWDATA1=You have *SEL_VERTICES* selected. Be careful
ROWDATA2=BLANK
ROWDATA3=Time spent modeling: *ELAPSED*
Install: copy SimpleHUD.dll and SimpleHUD.ini into Plugins\Startup Plugins, then assign keys to Switch, Next/Prev Page and Reload INI.
Plugin 2 · April 2005
SiloScript
A scripting bridge for Silo: write small extensions in VBScript or JavaScript and run them from a keyboard shortcut. It uses the Microsoft Script Control through a COM bridge. A tester app checks a script for errors before you run it in Silo, and the samples include a script that bridges two selected faces.
[SCRIPT1]
SCRIPT_NAME=The Coolest Script
SCRIPT_PATH=Plugins\Startup Plugins\SiloScript\ACoolPlugin.vbsilo
LANGUAGE=VB
Needs the Microsoft Script Control (2005-era Windows). Register the bridge with RegisterScriptBridge.bat. Scripts with errors can crash Silo, so save often.
Plugin 3 · May 2005
Mirror Plane
A modeling helper for symmetry. It places a mirror plane (a proxy grid you can move and rotate) and, while it's active, every edit to vertices, edges or faces is mirrored to their symmetrical counterparts.
- Create the plane from a selected shape, or at the origin
- Two switchable tolerances, adjustable on the fly
- Smart Resym: selected vertices stay put, while almost-symmetrical ones snap to their mirror position
- A projection line from each edited vertex to its ideal mirror point, red when linked
Tested with Silo 1.4 beta, should work with 1.3. Five releases in one week, from 0.1 (2 May) to 0.5 (7 May 2005).

This project dates from the mid-2000s. Downloads are kept as they were, for history and for anyone still running those versions. They may not work with current software.
